When Is enough Is really Enough

How many times, especially during or just after a tragedy like the killing of Eric Garner, Mike Brown. And now Freddie Gray..... have you heard one of our “leaders” angrily say, “Enough is enough”?.....Think about real good before you reply in your mind…. They say it as if their angry rhetoric will scare tha perpetrators and make them stop mistreating us…. More importantly if you ask me I truly believe, they use these words to stir up Black folks to tha point of being willing to follow them and do whatever they tell us to do. To that I say, “Enough is enough! Tha way we have digressed over tha past few decades make it pretty clear that our toothless tiger leaders, our “big dog” organizations, and tha shallow and often meaningless gestures by our celebrities and athletes have not taken us very far at all….. We have failed to move beyond threatening rhetoric, empty promises, and no-win compromises; and 9 out of 10 we are being sold out by those who would have us believe they are leading us to victory. They stand behind those microphones on stages, at press conferences, in pulpits, under tha rubric of “Black Leader” or Black Spokesperson,” shouting and getting tha troops “fired up and ready to go” with no roadmap, no plan, no end game, and no real strategy to accomplish our end. Then they disappear until the next crisis comes along, and we jump on their wheel-less bandwagon once again. They shout, “Enough is enough!” and we say “Yeah!” “That’s right!” and “You tell ‘em!”….Same ole song over and over again……Black People, African American and even Nica’s It’s time we hold ourselves accountable for tha declaration, “Enough is enough.” Do we need to be slapped just a little bit harder upside our heads for us to act more appropriately in response to our mistreatment and tha myriad complaints we have lodged? Do we need one more person killed, even before we have resolved Eric Garner’s homicide? Do we need just one more march on Washington, in New York, and now in Cleveland, Ohio, before we truly mean “enough is enough” {Come On Son}Just to shout out some tired phrases and walk away as if we accomplished something pragmatic is insulting and, quite frankly, cowardly. Bombastic rhetoric not followed by appropriate action is nothing but hot air and a waste of time and resources. Maybe that’s why many young people are so turned off by what they see and hear from These so call “leaders.” How are we going to make a real difference in tha way we are treated if we don’t first change tha way we respond to it? (Plain and Simple) When we change our behavior, tha perpetrators’ behavior will change. But right now we are so predictable, so shallow, and so vulnerable to “Rapolutionaries” and “Maach leaders.” We are willing to walk 130 miles because we think it will change what happened in Ferguson. We are willing to drive, fly, or ride a bus to Washington to “maach,” while along tha way we spend thousands of dollars to get there, stay there, and eat there, only to leave no better off than we were before we left home. [I really don’t get that] Is enough really enough? I don’t think so…...Cause I was always told when you really tried you won’t need no one to tell you that…
